Fall 2020 - FAQs

Unfortunately, we have made the difficult decision to not open our Fall Festival or Fields of Fear for 2020. We wait all year for the fall season, and we’re sad to miss it, but we value the health and safety of our employees, customers, and community too much to risk it. Instead, we’re offering some safer ways to celebrate the fall season with us in 2020, including our self-driven “hayride” and a drive-through market.

The Fall Festival and Fields of Fear are closed for 2020, so our festival grounds (including giant slides, rope swings, and other play areas) will not be opening until Fall 2021.

The Fall 2020 season runs from September 25 through November 2, featuring a self-driven “hayride” and an online market with drive-through order pickup.

The self-driven hayride is open 2-6 PM* on Mondays and Fridays, and 10 AM-6 PM* on Saturdays, Sundays, and Indigenous People’s Day (Monday, October 12).  (*5 PM on November 1 and 2). Last admission of the day is 45 minutes before closing. Tickets are available online only and are subject to availability. 2020 is a strange year, and this is a brand-new offering for us, so days/hours of operation are subject to change.

Place your Market order online anytime, and our Drive-Through Market is open for order pickup Monday through Friday 12 PM-6 PM* and Saturday-Sunday 10 AM-6 PM* (*5 PM November 1 and 2) from September 25 through November 2.

Our festival grounds, including all of our slides and play areas, are closed this year.

You may be able to spy a few critters from your car along the hayride route, but we do not have any animals available to visit.

No, Foamhenge is not open to visitors at this time, and it is not accessible or visible from the hayride route.

Unfortunately, the Fall Festival and Fields of Fear will be closed for Fall 2020, so we are not offering any field trips, parties, or other group reservation options this year.

Yes, we have your favorite seasonal treats available! As you approach the entrance to the hayride, you’ll have the option to detour into the Drive-Through Concessions area, where you can order treats like kettle corn and donuts. Our Drive-Through Market also offers kettle corn, donuts, apple cider, apple butter, and other seasonal goodies.

Yes, we will have portable toilets available for visitors in two areas, one as you near the entrance to the hayride route, and the other near the exits in our Service Area. Please note that there are not sinks for handwashing, but we do have hand sanitizer available.

Visitors are permitted to exit their vehicles at our Service Area, which is located near the exit. This area will include portable toilets, hand sanitizer stations, and photo ops for a quick family selfie so that you’ll always remember this unique Cox Farms experience of Fall 2020. Everything else- including the entire hayride process, concessions, and picking up market orders- is done from the safety of your car.

Keep the tradition alive! We will have several “How tall this fall?” signs set up in our Service Area near the exit for your essential photo ops. Please note that there are several identical photo op stations to minimize crowds and reduce lines/waiting in this area. Please take your selfies quickly and move on!

You may bring pets as long as they remain inside the vehicle at all times. Pets should be safely restrained so they cannot escape through open windows or during the market loading process.

For Fall 2020, most purchases (tickets and market) are exclusively available online. Concessions (near the start of the hayride) transactions are conducted in-person and limited to credit card, debit card, and other cashless methods including Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay.

You do not need to present a paper copy of your ticket, receipt, or voucher. You will need to display the bar code for us to scan, so make sure you have it ready on your device screen.

Adjustments to your order must be handled online. To add an item, simply complete a new transaction, and be sure to have both receipts/bar codes ready for us when you pick up. To remove an item or initiate a refund, log in to your account at coxfarms.com and locate the transaction under “Recent Transactions” to get started. If you have trouble, please contact reservations@coxfarms.com.

To initiate a refund, log in to your coxfarms.com account and find “Recent Purchases” on your dashboard. Click on the icon next to the transaction you would like refunded. The process may take up to 72 hours and it could take your financial institution additional time to post the refund. If you have questions or concerns, please email reservations@coxfarms.com.

Sorry, we are not hiring any new employees for 2020. In addition to our year-round, full-time crew, we are employing several returning Cox Farmers who have worked previous fall seasons at the farm. Overall, our staff is drastically reduced this year since we are not operating our Fall Festival or Fields of Fear events, so we’re reserving all work opportunities for current/existing employees.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover credit cards online and in-person at our Concessions. Quick-pay options including Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay are welcome. For the Fall 2020 season, all hayride ticket and market purchases must be made online using Visa, Mastercard, or Discover cards. Purchases at our Concessions drive-through will be cash-free; Visa, Mastercard, Discover cards, and quick-pay options are accepted.

Visitors do not need to wear masks inside their vehicles. Mask usage is appreciated during closer interactions with employees when your windows are down, such as when we are scanning your ticket voucher, taking your Concessions order, or fulfilling your market order. Mask use is REQUIRED anytime you exit your vehicle, which should only be to use the portapotties or to take photos at our Service Area. You MUST wear a mask when you exit your vehicle in the Service Area; you may remove masks briefly when you are safely distanced and in place for your photo, and then your mask should be back in place before you leave the photo op.

The Self-Driven Hayride is approximately one mile long and takes 12-15 minutes.

Most passenger vehicles should be fine, as long as they are operated safely, stay on the path, and obey the speed limit. Lowered vehicles, motorcycles, RVs, buses, and oversized vehicles are not permitted. Convertibles are permitted, and pickup trucks are allowed as long as all passengers are inside the cab. In order to prevent vehicle damage, cars should have a minimum of 6.5″ of clearance. Please review the vehicle dimension limits to ensure your vehicle does not exceed them.

Maximum Dimensions:  160 inches long (center of front tire to center of back tire, measuring from where the tire actually touches the ground) and 80 inches wide, outside to outside. Vehicles up to and including a Chevy Suburban or Ford F-250 crew cab, long bed are fine.

Clearance: Vehicles must have at least 6.5″ of clearance to safely drive the route.

Vehicles that do not exceed the maximum dimensions are permitted. If your van/bus is smaller than the maximum dimensions, you may drive the route. Please note that a single vehicle admission ticket is valid for one vehicle containing up to eight people. If you have more than eight people in one vehicle, you will need to purchase an additional ticket for every eight people.

Maximum Dimensions: 160″ long (from center of front tire to center of back tire, measuring from where the tire actually touches the ground) and 80″ wide, outside to outside.

A single vehicle admission ticket is valid for one vehicle (not to exceed the maximum dimensions) carrying up to eight people. If your vehicle has more than eight people, then you will need to purchase an additional ticket for every eight people. If your vehicle has 9-16 people, you would need two tickets, and if it has 17-24 people, you would need three tickets.

Pickup trucks are permitted but only if all passengers are inside the cab, not in the bed. Motorcycles are not permitted. Convertibles are fine. Passengers must keep their bodies (including heads and limbs) inside the vehicle.

Yes, the outside of your vehicle will probably get dirty. Your results may vary depending on recent weather conditions, but this is a farm, so dust and dirt are normal. The hayride route is gravel and dirt, and sometimes mud puddles form on the route. One section involves driving through shallow water.

The Self-Driven Hayride is at your own risk, and we cannot assume responsibility for any damages. Any operation of a motor vehicle involves risk. That said, the route has been adapted to accommodate most standard passenger vehicles, and it has been driven by lots of cars without incident. Some vehicles are not suited for the terrain and cannot complete the hayride route; please be sure to review the vehicle limits and requirements to ensure that your vehicle is appropriate. Exceeding the speed limit, unauthorized stopping, and straying from the marked route increase the likelihood of vehicle damage and personal injury.

You may play music in your car as long as the volume is low enough to avoid disturbing other visitors, but keep in mind that you’ll probably miss our hayride sound effects if you’re playing music. To optimize your hayride experience, we recommend you immerse yourself by putting the windows down at least a little, to feel the outdoor air and hear the sounds (both the natural ambient sounds of the farm environment and the supplemented audio effects playing along the route).

No, you must remain inside your vehicles at all times. Visitors who are observed stopping unnecessarily and/or exiting their vehicles may be expelled without refund.

No, it does not go directly by or near Foamhenge. Foamhenge is currently closed and is not accessible from the route, but there is a portion of the hayride that provides a view from a distance.

The speed limit for the hayride route- and the rest of the farm- is 5 MPH.

The route is not paved; it is primarily gravel and very hard-packed dirt.

Yes, there is one water crossing that involves driving through up to two inches of water on a concrete path. There may also be small puddles of standing water on the route. Don’t worry, we won’t send you through the mud pit where the tractor always gets “stuck,” so you shouldn’t have any trouble.

The route will not be exactly the same as a normal Fall Festival hayride. Specifically, you will skip Snake Lake by opting for the “Easy Way” instead of the “Hard Way” (because SOMETHING’S gotta be easy in 2020!), you will not drive through the giant mud pit where the tractor traditionally gets stuck, and directions may be reversed in certain areas. In addition to the adjusted route, there will be other changes to adapt the experience to personal vehicles rather than open wagons and to ensure safety and distancing.

We hope so! This will depend on several factors, and it may change during the season. There will not be as many actors as the normal hayride, but if safety and health concerns allow for it, we hope to have at least one or two actors.

You may bring pets as long as they remain inside the vehicle at all times. Pets should be safely restrained so they cannot escape through open windows or during the market loading process.

No, smoking is not permitted on the hayride route.

Tickets for the self-driven hayride are only available online. If you arrive at the farm without a ticket, you may pull out of line to purchase your ticket on your phone at coxfarms.com. You do not need to print out your ticket; we can scan it from your device screen.

Sorry about that! The hayride has a limited capacity and we are restricting the number of tickets accordingly to avoid long lines or wait times. We recommend purchasing tickets well in advance to ensure availability. Additional tickets may be added online as the season goes on, depending on how it goes.

Ticket times are for a set 15-minute timeframe on a specific date. If you are within 15 minutes of your scheduled time, you can go ahead and redeem your ticket. If you arrive very early or very late, you may be asked to reschedule your visit by initiating a refund for your original ticket online and then purchasing a new one for the date and time you will actually attend. If there is no line when you arrive, you may be allowed to redeem your original ticket. If you are attending on an entirely different date, you will need to have your original ticket refunded and purchase a new ticket.

Yes, sort of! When you buy your pumpkin online, you’ll select from several size options. You’ll be able to see general size/weight ranges, as well as sample photos that reflect each size option. When you arrive at the Drive-Through to pick up your items, your loading station will have a pumpkin display that includes a shelf for each size option. Each shelf will have several pumpkins on it, and you will make your selection from the pumpkin options on the shelf for the size pumpkin you purchased. You’ll select your pumpkin by telling the Cox Farmer which pumpkin you want from the shelf, and they will load it for you.

We do not offer delivery. Shipping is available on merchandise products only (t-shirts, hoodies, magnets, etc.). All other items must be purchased online and picked up at our Drive-Through Market.

Yes! We have a great selection of t-shirts, hoodies, magnets, and more, all available for online purchase here. ALL merchandise orders will be shipped directly to you; these items cannot be picked up in-person.

Our offerings are very limited this year. In order to make our drive-through market function, we had to drastically reduce the selection we offer. We look forward to resuming our normal Fall Market with a much broader selection of offerings in 2021.

Our Fall 2020 Drive-Through Market has all the essentials, but it is a very streamlined list compared to our usual fall selection. We will have pumpkins of various sizes, apple cider, kettle corn, cider donuts, and apple butter. You can find more information on our Fall 2020 market here.

Sorry, for Fall 2020, our market products are exclusively available for online purchase and drive-through pickup. We do not have a market for in-person shopping this year.

As you approach the Drive-Through Market pickup area, there is an area where you can pull off to complete your order. Once your purchase is complete, proceed to the Drive-Through Market line and have your order number ready for us.

Immediately! If you place your order when the market is open, then you can proceed to the Drive-Through Market pickup area as soon as your transaction is complete and you have your receipt and bar code. We will pull your order for you upon your arrival. You can place your order in advance, but it is not necessary. We do ask that you pick up your order within a week of placing it, but it will be available for pickup through the end of the season (Nov 2).

Our Market Drive-Through is open for order pickup 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover credit cards online and in-person at our Concessions. Quick-pay options including Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay are welcome.
