General Farm FAQs

Each year, we hire hundreds of employees to staff our Fall Festival and Fields of Fear. For information about employment,please visit www.workingatcoxfarms.com.Hiring season is July-August each year. Applicants must be at least 14 years old to work at the Fall Festival, and at least 16 years old to work Fields of Fear.

No! Cox Farms is a family-owned, family-operated farm & business that has been a part of the community for more than 45 years.

During our Spring & Summer season, the Corner Market is open 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. The farm is closed Monday through Thursday each week. Spring & Summer dates vary but typically the season is late April through late August.

The farm closes completely between late August and mid-September, when the Fall Festival begins, and then again between early November (when the fall season ends) and the day after Thanksgiving.

The Corner Market is open daily during the Christmas season (the day after Thanksgiving through December 23). The farm is completely closed December 25 through late April.

Please note that the festival grounds (giant slides, hayrides, rope swings, and other play areas) are open ONLY during the Fall Festival, so those activities are not available during other seasons. All other seasons operate from the Corner Market.

The range of animals depends on the season. At the Corner Market, you’ll usually find goats, chicks and/or chickens and a rabbit or two; during the Spring & Summer, our whole goat herd is there along with their guard llama, Chewie, plus some sheep and an alpaca. During the Fall Festival, you’ll also find pigs, cows, horses, turkeys, ducks and more!

Pets are not permitted at the Fall Festival or Fields of Fear; however, working dogs that meet the ADA’s definition of a service animal are always welcome.

During Spring & Summer and Christmas at the Corner Market, we welcome well-behaved, leashed pets in limited areas. Dogs are not permitted in the food/produce areas or near our farm animals. Please respect the “Dogs not permitted beyond this point” signs.

Please note: Therapy, emotional support and comfort animals do NOT meet the ADA definition of a service animal and therefore are not permitted at the Fall Festival or Fields of Fear.

Foamhenge is our life-size replica of Stonehenge made entirely out of styrofoam. You can read more about Foamhenge and find information about visiting here. Please note that Foamhenge is located on private property and is only open to visitors during select times.

Online Merchandise Store FAQs

We accept returns within 60 days for any reason.

Returned items must be in original condition.

If returning item by mail, please use the same shipping box in which the item arrived, if possible.

Refunds will be issued back to the original payment method.

Yes! Items purchased online can be returned at the farm during our posted hours of operation within 60 days of purchase. Please contact us for assistance.

No, there is no minimum amount to place an order. Order as much or as little as you’d like!

Magnets and gift cards ship for free. Admission tickets, Cox Dollars, and other visit add-ons are issued as vouchers to be claimed when you arrive, so there is no shipping cost for those items. For T-shirts, there is a flat shipping & handling fee of $5. This flat rate applies to your entire purchase, regardless of how many items are in your cart.

Your order will ship using our Standard shipping option. Orders normally ship within 3-5 business days. After the order ships, it may take up to 7-14 business days to arrive.

We’ll do our best! If you need your order fast, please email info@coxfarms.com to discuss your options.

If you wish to send items to different locations, you will need to place a separate order for each shipping address.

You have 24 hours to change an address. Once an order has been processed, we can no longer change the address.

Corner Market FAQs

Yes, we accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards. For your convenience, we also accept “Tap to Pay” payments including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

The festival grounds, including giant slides, hayrides, rope swings and other play areas, are only open during the Fall Festival. If you visit the Corner Market during the spring, summer or winter seasons, you will not be able to play on the festival grounds.

On Smokin’ Saturdays (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.) during Spring & Summer, we have pulled pork BBQ sandwiches and smoked chicken quarters from our own smoker, plus hotdogs and vegetarian burgers. We also have lots of treats, including kettle corn, donuts, soft-serve vanilla ice cream, root beer floats, fresh-squeezed lemonade, cinnamon-roasted almonds and more!

On Fridays and Sundays during the Spring & Summer, we have kettle corn, donuts, root beer, soft serve ice cream and almonds. You are always welcome to bring your own food and snacks; we have plenty of picnic tables around the Corner Market.

During Spring & Summer seasons, you’ll find farm animals to visit, fun photo ops, lots of wooden climbing structures for little kids, bubbles to chase and an area with field games including corn hole and over-sized wooden versions of favorites like Jenga, Connect-4, Yatzee, checkers and dominoes.

During Smokin’ Saturdays in the Spring & Summer, there’s even more action: visits to Foamhenge, live music, lots of tasty treats and occasional demos and activities.

When it’s the Christmas season, we have a fire for roasting marshmallows (s’mores kits and hot dog kits available!), wooden climbing structures, farm animals, photo ops, a magic “snow” machine and even a few visits from Santa!

Our products change seasonally!

During the Spring & Summer, the Corner Market features tropicals, hanging baskets and vegetable and herb plants from our own greenhouses, as well as homegrown and local produce. During the Christmas season, we offer premium, freshly cut Christmas trees, handmade wreaths and stunning centerpieces.

We also offer a selection of local honey, preserves and tasty treats like homemade kettle corn, fresh donuts, cinnamon roasted almonds and more. We typically have local pastured eggs during Spring & Summer as well as local apple cider during the fall and winter seasons. During Fall, our Corner Market is closed while we offer pumpkins, apples and more at our Festival Market, which is located right outside the festival grounds.

With that said, because we are a small-scale producer, availability of our products changes quickly and often. Please email info@coxfarms.com or call (703)830-4121 before you visit if you are looking for a particular item – we’ll be happy to let you know if we have it in stock that day.

During Spring & Summer, the Corner Market is open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The farm is completely closed Monday-Thursday, so we do not have produce or anything else available for sale on those days.

Each year, we hire hundreds of employees to staff our Fall Festival and Fields of Fear. Since the Corner Market only requires a small team, our retail crew is selected from our pool of fall employees. We do not hire any new employees to work the spring, summer, or winter seasons.

Corner Market days and hours of operation vary by season.

During the Spring & Summer (late April through late August), the Corner Market is open 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Corner Market is closed Monday-Thursday during Spring & Summer.

During the fall season, the Corner Market is closed but our Festival Market (located outside the festival grounds) is open daily.

The Corner Market is open daily during the Christmas season (the day after Thanksgiving through December 23). Hours are from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

No, we do not accept checks at the Corner Market. We accept cash and Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit cards.

General Fall Festival FAQs

No, we can’t possibly grow all the pumpkins needed for the Fall Festival here on our farm, so we bring in pumpkins from other farms.

The whole family enjoys the Fall Festival, with giant slides and rope swings especially popular with kids 10 and under. We also have lots of attractions for our youngest visitors that include baby animals, small slides and a wooden train to play on. Teenagers (and their brave parents!) may be more interested in Fields of Fear.

Yes! You can pre-purchase admission tickets to the Fall Festival.

If you would like to pre-purchase individual admission tickets, please visit our Tickets page. If you would like to make a special group reservation and pay for your group tickets, please visit our Groups page. Pre-purchase tickets are also available in person at our Customer Service Booth at the Festival.

Our world-famous hayride is exciting and fun, but not scary… 20 fun-filled minutes with zany scenes and surprises around every bend. It is appropriate for all ages (although not for pregnant moms!). Every year we add new stuff. Every time you ride, you notice more!

There are currently no combination tickets available for the day-time Fall Festival and the night-time Fields of Fear. You will need to purchase two separate tickets for the separate events if you wish to attend both.

There are no pony rides at the Fall Festival.

The hiring season is July-August each year, and applicants must be at least 14 years old to work at the Fall Festival. For more information about employment, please visit www.workingatcoxfarms.com.

Yes, we have several options for vegetarians, including pizza, boardwalk fries, nachos, salads, soft pretzels and more. Our famous apple cider donuts are vegetarian and our kettle corn is vegan! Availability depends on when you visit. Some food stations are open for limited hours and several are open only on weekends.

Although Cox Farms was founded in 1972, it wasn’t until the early 1980s that we held our first Fall Festival on a single weekend. Our famous Fall Festival has been steadily growing ever since.

Fall Festival admission types and prices vary depending on when you visit; your decision to visit on a Discount Day, Value Day, Regular Day or Peak Day will determine the cost of admission. All four ticket types include unlimited hayrides, all the slides, rope swings, the Cornundrum and Imaginature Trail, fun tunnels and other play areas, local apples and cider to enjoy during your visit plus a small patch pumpkin to take home.

On Discount days (Sept. 23-26, Sept. 30-Oct. 3, Oct. 7-8, 31 and Nov. 1, 2019), admission is just $7 per person! Value admission (most weekdays, not including Indigenous Peoples Day, plus our first and last weekends of the season) is $11 per person. Regular admission (Sept. 21-22 and Sept. 28-29, 2019) is $15 per person. On our busiest and most popular weekends in October (Oct. 5-6, 12-14, 19-20 and 26-27, 2019), Peak admission is $20 per person.

These pricing options allow visitors to save by planning their visit on a non-Peak date. You can learn more about which day is best for your visit through our Ticketbooth page.

Pumpkin Madness is our traditional two-day “grand finale” to the Fall Festival on the weekend after Halloween. Leftover pumpkins are hurled, smashed, dropped, spiked, bowled and squished.

The Fall Festival is open daily from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m with the last entry being one hour before closing.

Please note that the Fall Festival is open until 5 p.m. in November.

Our giant slides travel down hills, shoot out of barns, and erupt from volcanoes. We even have a multi-lane giant dino-slide! There are different sized rope swings for different ages, animals to visit, the best hayride ever, hay tunnels, food entertainment and more. Our visitors tell us they can spend hours playing here and still not see everything.

Fall Festival admission is valid for the full day (10 AM-6 PM, or 10 AM-5 PM in November). Re-entry is permitted during the Fall Festival; as long as you still have on a valid admission wristband, you are able to come and go throughout the day.

Re-entry is NOT permitted at Fields of Fear. Once you have passed through the Exit, you will not be allowed to return to Fields of Fear.

Ticketing And Payment FAQs

If you purchased online tickets and your plans have changed, we’ve got you covered! Depending on the type of ticket you purchased, your ticket may still be valid. If not, you can either upgrade your tickets or return them and purchase new tickets. See below to determine whether your ticket will be valid when you plan to visit.

If your existing tickets are not valid for the day you plan to visit, you can return your tickets to purchase a different ticket type. You can do this online in advance OR in person when you arrive at the farm. (Please note: You will need to visit the Customer Service Booth, not the E-Tickets Express line, to upgrade your tickets at the farm. If you wish to use the E-Tickets Express line, you will need to request the refund online and purchase new tickets before your visit.)

Note: Fields of Fear Deluxe tickets are valid only on the date listed; Fear Basic tickets can be used any night of the season, but Fear Deluxe tickets must be refunded and repurchased if you decide to come on a different night.

Fall Festival Discount admission tickets are valid only on Discount dates as identified on the Ticketbooth Calendar. If you purchased Discount tickets and plan to visit on a day that is not a Discount date, you can resolve the issue online in advance or at the farm on the day of your visit. To handle this online, log in to your accountto request a refund for the old tickets and then purchase new tickets. To upgrade at the farm, simply bring your existing ticket vouchers to the Customer Service Booth when you arrive, and we will process the upgrade for you; you’ll just pay the difference between the $7 Discount rate and the admission price for the day you visit.

Value admission tickets are valid on Value dates and Discount dates. If you plan to visit on a day that is not a Value date, you can return the tickets and purchase new tickets online, or you can upgrade your tickets at the Customer Service Booth when you arrive; you’ll just pay the difference between the $10 Value rate and the admission price for the day you visit.

Regular admission tickets are valid any day of the Fall Festival season EXCEPT Peak dates. If you purchased Regular admission tickets and now plan to visit on a Peak day, you may use your Regular admission tickets as a $15 voucher and upgrade by paying the difference at the Customer Service Booth when you arrive.

Peak admission tickets are valid any day of the Fall Festival season. If you purchased Peak admission tickets and now plan to visit on a non-Peak day, you may use your existing tickets, or you may request a refund for your old tickets and purchase new tickets. This process can be completed online or at the Customer Service Booth when you arrive.

If you would like to make a special Group Reservation and pay for your group tickets, please visit our Groups page for more information. (Please note: to upgrade when you arrive, you must use the regular ticket line, not the E-Ticket Express line.)

Most (but not all) of our food concessions accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover plus “tap to pay” services including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. We do not have ATMs on the farm, but we do sell Cox Dollars at the Customer Service Booth and Ticketbooth, where you can purchase them with a credit card to spend like cash around the farm.

Cox Farms does not offer a season pass.

Yes! Every Tuesday is Senior Citizen Day at Cox Farms; there is no reduced price for seniors on other days.

Unused, valid tickets can be refunded through the end of the season purchased. Tickets purchased online are always refunded directly onto the credit card used for the original ticket purchase.

To request a refund online, log in to your account and scroll down to “Transaction History.” Locate the purchase you want to have refunded, and click the corresponding “Request” button next to it to initiate the refund process. Please note that online refunds may take a few days to process.

If you prefer, bring your tickets to the Customer Service Booth at the farm during regular hours of operation, and we’ll complete the refund immediately.

Please note that it may still take time for the refund to be reflected on your account balance/credit card statement, depending on your bank/credit card issuer.

No. Everyone that is 2 years old and over that is entering the Fall Festival pays the same admission price. There are no discounts for group size and no discounts for chaperones or helpers.

In order to redeem each ticket purchased, we need to view and scan the unique bar code on each voucher. We can scan the bar code from a printed voucher or from the screen of your mobile device. Just be sure that your phone is able to display the bar code on the voucher (PDF file).

Kids under the age of 2 years receive free admission. Everyone 2 years and older pay the same admission.

Fall Festival admission has four ticket tiers, depending on the date of your visit. All four tiers include the same attractions, but you’ll pay less on our Discount and Value Days and more on our Peak days.

Warning: if you prefer to avoid crowds and lines, we recommend choosing a non-Peak date to visit!

Peak Days at Cox Farms occur during the heart of our Fall Festival season, the busiest weekends in October. They are incredibly fun, hopping with people, and visitors enjoy these weekends due to the amazing fall weather and strong autumn spirit at Cox Farms. They’re called “Peak” Days because these truly are the most popular days of the year to visit the Fall Festival.

No, we do not accept personal checks. Payments may only be made by cash, Visa, MasterCard or Discover only. Business checks may be accepted at the owners’ discretion.

Cox Farms offers service members the opportunity to claim reduced price tickets during our “Public Servants” weekend. During designated weekends during the Fall Festival season, military personnel, teachers, firefighters, and other public servants are welcome to take advantage of a reduced ticket price.

Our Corner Market, Ticketbooth, Market and most (but not all) of our food concessions accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover plus “tap to pay” services including Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay. We do not have ATMs on the farm, but we do sell Cox Dollars at the Customer Service Booth and Ticketbooth, where you can purchase them with a credit card to spend like cash around the farm.

Field Trips FAQs

We have Community Support grants available to groups who otherwise might not be able to attend our Fall Festival.

Please call 703.830.4121 to make us aware of your late arrival. We will accommodate your group to the best of our abilities; however, please keep in mind that we must honor punctual arrivals first.

Group reservations provide eligible groups with certain benefits. Weekday Groups enjoy the convenience of advance scheduling, plus time-saving options like pre-paying and faster Group Check-In upon arrival. Weekday field trip reservations also receive free goat food for the children.

Groups are welcome anytime at the Fall Festival, with or without a reservation. However, reservations allow us to reduce overcrowding and ensure adequate staffing for your visit.

Weekend Group FAQs

Yes, the Fall Festival is a great party venue for birthday parties, company outings, organization events, family reunions and more! You have several options for hosting your party or event at the festival.

Groups are welcome anytime at the Fall Festival. If you would like to have your “Do It Yourself” party, there is no reservation required. In order to secure your reserved, decorated table in our Party Zone, a Party Place table reservation is required. Reservations are also required for weekend groups that would like exclusive use of one of our private pavilions. Fields Of Fear FAQs

Fields of Fear is Cox Farms’ haunted nighttime experience on Friday and Saturday nights each fall.

Visit the Fields of Fear Ticketbooth for details on dates and pricing.

Hours of operation are 7:30 p.m. – 11 p.m. (last entry 10 p.m., but Deluxe tickets may sell out earlier!). Fields of Fear features the Dark Side Hayride, The Forest: Back 40, Cornightmare and the Firegrounds, where visitors can ride our giant slide, hit the dance floor, explore Foamhenge and enjoy entertainment, bonfires and great food.

Unlike the daytime Cox Farms Fall Festival, which appeals to families with children, Fields of Fear was created for teens and adults wanting a good scare. Fields of Fear is NOT recommended for children under 12 years of age. All guests under 14 years must be accompanied by a supervising adult (18+ years old). Parents are urged to give careful consideration to whether their child is mature enough to experience intense frightful situations. Children under 12 (and older scaredy cats) will be much happier at the daytime Cox Farms Fall Festival.

Yes! Visitors are permitted to wear costumes as long as they are appropriate. No weapons, masks or gory/obscene costumes permitted for security reasons.

If you miss the assigned entry time for one of your attractions, take your ticket to the entrance of the attraction as soon as possible. If you are running behind, do NOT skip an attraction to catch up – just go to the attractions in the order listed on your ticket. If you skip around or visit attractions out of order, you may miss an attraction.

Yes, there are strobe lights on the Dark Side Hayride, The Cornightmare, The Firegrounds and The Market.

Although some of Fields of Fear is accessible on crutches or by wheelchair, the Cornightmare and the Forest (the two main haunted attractions) are NOT. The Firegrounds are accessible (although it is a bit of a mosey to get there!) and at the Dark Side Hayride our staff is very happy to help you onto the wagon. The Dark Side Hayride can be bumpy and is not recommended for someone with broken bones.

There are two different types of Fields of Fear admission: Fear Basic and Fear Deluxe. Fear Basic admission includes entry into the Firegrounds and one Dark Side Hayride. Fear Deluxe admission includes entry into the Firegrounds, one Dark Side Hayride, one entry into the Cornightmare and one entry into the Forest: Back 40.

Fear Basic admission is always $15 and does not sell out. Basic tickets are sold until 10 p.m. every night of Fields of Fear, and a Basic ticket can be used on any night. Fear Deluxe admission varies in price depending on the date: Discount nights are just $20, Value nights are $25, the three Regular nights are $30 and our three Peak nights are $35. See the Fields of Fear Tickets page for details. Fear Deluxe tickets are valid only on the date specified on the ticket; if your plans change after you purchase your tickets and you now plan to visit on a different date, you will need to refund the original ticket and purchase a new ticket. Please note that Fear Deluxe tickets do sell out before 10 p.m. on our busy nights, so buy early online!

The Firegrounds are safe, but you and your doctor should discuss the risks of participating in the other activities. The Cornightmare and the Forest may include startling sounds and noises, uneven terrain and crowded areas. The hayride involves bumps and sudden stops and starts, so generally we recommend that pregnant women avoid the hayride.

Fear Deluxe ticket prices are variable based on whether you visit during peak or off-peak times of the season. You can choose to save money by visiting during less-crowded times, or pay the premium Peak admission prices if you choose to visit on our most popular nights of the season.

If you visit on our first three nights of the season (Discount nights: Sept. 20, 21 or 27, 2019), you’ll pay just $20 for your Fear Deluxe ticket! Deluxe admission on our Value nights (Sept. 28, Oct. 4, 5 and 11; Nov. 1 or 2, 2019) is $25. On Regular nights (Oct. 12, 13 and 18, 2019), Deluxe admission goes up to $30, and on our three Peak nights (Oct. 19, 25 and 26, 2019) it is $35.

When you get your admission wristband at the Ticketbooth, you’ll also receive your Attractions ticket with entry times for each attraction. We assign entry times to minimize the amount of time you spend waiting in line at each attraction. Please note that once you have your wristband, you are free to enter the Firegrounds as soon as the gates are open at 7:30 p.m., regardless of the attraction entry times you are assigned. Before, between and after your scheduled attractions, you are free to enjoy everything the Firegrounds has to offer including bonfires, giant slides, mini attractions, entertainment, Foamhenge, etc.

Attraction entry times are assigned based on the order in which you arrive at the Ticketbooth. Even if you purchase your tickets online in advance, your entry times will not be assigned until you redeem your tickets when you arrive at the farm. The earlier you arrive at the Ticketbooth, the earlier the times you will be assigned. On busy nights, the earlier entry times will go fast, meaning that even if you arrive at 8 p.m., you could end up being assigned very late entry times.

Our earliest time assignments are 7:30/8/8:30, meaning you will enter your first attraction right when the gates open at 7:30, and you’ll finish your final attraction around 9 p.m. On very busy nights, entry times could go as late as 10:30/11/11:30, meaning that you would not finish your final attraction until around midnight.

There are currently no combination tickets available for the day-time Fall Festival and the night-time Fields of Fear. You will need to purchase two separate tickets for the separate events if you wish to attend both.

There are big, strong scary images and scenes, implied violence, ‘stage’ blood, witches, ghouls and skeletons; however, there are no representations of gore, torture, traditional weapons or mental or physical disabilities. In addition, there is no nudity, sex, drugs or alcohol. Strobe lights and other lighting effects are also used on-site.

If we must close due to bad weather and you have pre-purchased tickets, you may log in to your account to request a refund for your tickets. Fear Basic tickets may be used any night of the season, but Deluxe tickets are valid only on the date listed on your ticket, so you will need to purchase new Deluxe tickets for the date you wish to attend.

Fear Basic admission includes only the Firegrounds and one hayride; the hayride is about 20 minutes long, and you can spend as little or as much time in the Firegrounds as you’d like. Some folks spend several hours dancing, exploring Foamhenge, going down slides, roasting marshmallows, etc.

Fear Deluxe tickets include the Firegrounds, a hayride, one entry to the Cornightmare and one entry to the Forest: Back 40. Fear Deluxe admission comes with assigned entry times for each attraction, so how long it will take depends in part on when you arrive and what times you are assigned. The very earliest you could possibly get through all three attractions is around 9 p.m., and that does not factor in spending any time in the Firegrounds.

Our earliest time assignments are 7:30/8/8:30, meaning you will enter your first attraction right when the gates open at 7:30 p.m., and you’ll finish your final attraction around 9 p.m. On very busy nights, entry times could go as late as 10:30/11/11:30, meaning that you would not finish your final attraction until around midnight.

Online tickets are available, and we encourage you to pre-purchase your tickets because Fields of Fear does sell out on our busy nights.

Fall Festival admission is valid for the full day (10 AM-6 PM, or 10 AM-5 PM in November). Re-entry is permitted during the Fall Festival; as long as you still have on a valid admission wristband, you are able to come and go throughout the day.

Re-entry is NOT permitted at Fields of Fear. Once you have passed through the Exit, you will not be allowed to return to Fields of Fear.

We have Fairfax County police officers and/or private security officers at the farm on Fall Festival weekends and during Fields of Fear. Our management staff uses a radio system for quick communications. Our staff is trained to deal with security issues which may arise.

Yes, we have first aid kits and ice for taking care of small cuts and bee stings. If there is an injury at the farm, we will give the first aid kits to the responsible accompanying adult or call for help if necessary. We do not have a resident nurse or first aid staff. Please advise members of your group to bring appropriate medicines if they have allergies or asthma.

Absolutely not. Children under 14 must always be accompanied by an adult (18 years old or older). For safety reasons, unaccompanied minors will not be allowed into the festival. Unaccompanied minors are also not allowed to leave the festival, so be sure to take all your kids with you when you leave!

At the Corner Market, as well as during the Fall Festival and Fields of Fear, we do have designated parking areas and wheelchair-accessible portable toilets around the farm. The farm terrain in most areas is grass, gravel or packed dirt, not pavement. Some areas are hilly or rocky; however, we very much welcome special-needs visitors and will do everything possible to accommodate mobility and other challenges. Yes, if you or your child has a serious peanut allergy or other food sensitivities, you will want to supply your own food and take safety steps as necessary.

Please be aware that our french fries are cooked in peanut oil, we prepare peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in our kitchen, and we sell peanuts and nut products at the festival. Food prepared in our kitchen may have come in contact with peanut oil or peanut butter.

No, we do not serve any alcohol. You may NOT bring any onto the property.
