The Grass May Have Been Greener This Time, but BrightFarms is Still One of the Coolest Things Made in Georgia

Macon-grown leafy greens earns a Top 4 finish in this year’s statewide competition

ATLANTA, Jul. 22, 2026 — BrightFarms, a Cox Farms brand, has earned a spot among the Top 4 finalists in the Georgia Chamber’s 2026 Coolest Thing Made in Georgia competition, advancing through multiple rounds of public voting among products made across the state. As the only fresh food company to reach the final four, the recognition highlights the innovation behind BrightFarms’ greenhouse-grown produce and company’s contribution to the innovative spirit of Georgia.

The grass may have been greener this time, with TifTuf, a drought-tolerant Bermuda grass, advancing to the final round, but BrightFarms is celebrating a Top 4 finish that shines a spotlight on its 480,000-square-foot greenhouse in Macon, one of the largest and most advanced leafy greens facilities in the state. Using advanced hydroponic technology and sustainable growing practices, the facility grows crunchy, pesticide-free, leafy greens and salad kits that reach grocery stores in as few as 24 hours after harvest, all while supporting the local community.

“Georgia has always been at the forefront of agriculture, and we’re proud that BrightFarms is helping shape what the industry’s future looks like,” said Steven Bradley, president of Cox Farms. “Our investment in Macon reflects our long-term commitment to Georgia, where innovation, technology and agriculture come together to build a more resilient food system. We’re honored to see BrightFarms recognized among the state’s most innovative products.”

BrightFarms’ Macon greenhouse plays an important role in Cox Farms’ efforts to strengthen the regional food supply by growing fresh produce closer to the communities where it is consumed. By producing leafy greens year-round in a controlled environment and delivering them to grocery stores in as few as 24 hours after harvest, BrightFarms helps shorten the journey from seed to shelf and provide a more consistent supply of fresh produce across Georgia and the Southeast.

As a Cox Enterprises company, Cox Farms is investing in the future of agriculture through businesses that combine innovation, technology and sustainable growing practices. BrightFarms’ recognition reflects the company’s broader commitment to advancing fresh food production while supporting the communities where it operates.
